3 Bathroom products that are vital to have in every bathroom

Bathrooms are of course very important elements within every home. Bathrooms are where we get to refresh ourselves, and they are constantly used multiple times during the day, unlike the other rooms which may not be used during some days. Bathrooms must therefore be very accommodating – they must look very spacious, clean, and airy. They must also be very practical, without looking too claustrophobic, as bathrooms tend to store many different kinds of things that are used on a regular basis, such as home cleaning products, hair & skin products, refresheners and many others. These are some essential characteristics of any bathroom, and they define what this room is.

Important components

Each and every room in the house is constructed of many different components, from pieces of furniture, to electricals, to various decorative means, and these components come together to specialise the room into what it is, and differentiate it from the other parts of the home. Bathrooms are no exception to this of course, as bathrooms consist of many different kinds of equipment and components. However, bathrooms do come in many different sizes and shapes, and so therefore, depending on the availability of space, some bathrooms may have many more components compared to other smaller bathrooms with less space available, which are classified as additional luxuries rather than must haves.

There are mainly three components that are vital in every bathroom, and these are a WC pan and seat, a sink with a basin mixer (tap) and porcelain tiles for the bathrooms flooring and wall cladding. Having at least one shower or bath in the house is also vital, but some houses may have multiple bathrooms, and so if there is at least one somewhere around the house, then not every bathroom must be equipped with a shower or a bath. However, the three essential items mentioned above must be included within every bathroom in order to define it as what it is.

Bathroom flooring and wall cladding

Flooring and wall cladding is very important in a home, and especially in a bathroom, which is a place that tends to be quite damp and must look astonishingly welcoming. Consequently, the choice of wall cladding must be beautiful, it must be very resistant to damping, and it must be able to contain all of the various components of the bathroom, so that it does not break when something is drilled into it for example. Bathroom cladding must also be very easy to wipe down and disinfect, as bathrooms do tend to become dirty quite quickly compared to the rest of the house, so they must not be dreadful to clean. The bathroom floor must also be magnificent to look at, but it cannot be too slippery, and again must also be damp resistant so that it does not crack when it is challenged by a load of water. Furthermore, the flooring must be stain resistant, as many things drop onto the bathroom floor, and so the floor must not decolourise easily at all. Porcelain tiles

Porcelain tiles have been on the rise amongst customers in the market over the past couple of decades. This is initially, due to the fascinating colours and designs that can be achieved with porcelain tiles. Furthermore, porcelain is highly durable and is very stain, scratch, and heat resistant. Porcelain tiles are also relatively thin, and so not only do they maximise the amount of space available, but they are also then compatible with any underfloor heating or cisterns that are located behind the cladding. Porcelain tiles also come in many different sizes and textures, so that no matter what the size of the bathroom, there is always a porcelain tile that is suitable, and this also means that even with wet rooms, there can be polished porcelain tiles for the walls, that reflect light and look very attractive, but there are also matching porcelain tiles that boast a matt or even a textured finish, in order to be extremely slip resistant.

WC pan and seat

Toilets come in various forms, shapes, and colours. It is very important to consider which style you are trying to go for, in terms of a traditional style or a modern style, because there is a very wide range of different styling options also available. Toilets for instance can either come as back to wall, whereby the toilet is resting on the floor and the flush tank is visible, they can come as freestanding, whereby the cistern is placed behind the wall but the toilet is still resting on the floor, or they can come as wall hung, which is the most modern looking design, whereby the toilet is hung up on the wall, and the cistern is hidden behind the wall cladding.

Basins and Vanities

Sinks play a vital role in terms of maintaining hygiene around the house and especially within the bathroom, but they can also act as design features. Sinks can come as freestanding or as wall hung, in various colours and shapes. Sinks do reduce the amount of occupied space, however they are not practical as such because they do not hold any storage space, therefore they are suitable for bathrooms with some storage available in other parts. However, the alternative is to have a vanity with either an undermount or an overmount basin. Vanities not only provide some storage space, but they also create a fashion statement, because they come in a wide variety of different looks as well. Vanities can come either as freestanding or wall hung, and they can come as curved or boxy, and they come in different sizes and colours, and they can even come with a wide variety of different handles and legs (if they are freestanding). Some vanities may also require a work surface to cover the top, and so customers tend to use the same tile that they used for the rest of their bathroom to cover up the vanity top, which then allows for the vanity to blend into the beautifully elegant scenery created.
